It was a classically cold Minnesota Friday night. Jake and Sarah found themselves at a local party while they attended the University of Minnesota. Of course, Jake was the first to take notice of Sarah as she danced the night away. As the night progressed, Jake built his courage to ask Sarah for a dance. The moment arrived when they caught each other's eyes as they passed and he quickly came up with the now-infamous question, “Hey, you’re kinda cute … wanna dance?” Surprisingly, that terrible line worked and as the night closed to them belting out the lyrics of Don’t Stop Believing by Journey, Jake asked for Sarah’s number and the rest is history.
Throughout Jake and Sarah’s relationship they had always wanted to go to Zion National Park. Jake planned an impromptu trip, which included hiking one of the most dangerous hikes in the world, Angel's Landing. The hike was equal parts difficult as it was terrifying (would not recommend). Once they climbed to the top and had a picnic lunch, Jake asked if Sarah wanted a picture looking out over Zion. Sarah stood over the edge looking out, and Jake said, "Ok, I've got it." As Sarah turned around, Jake was on one knee holding out a ring he kept hidden for over a year in his nightstand drawer. Jake successfully surprised Sarah with the proposal, and they spent the rest of the trip hiking around Zion as they planned their wedding.
