Both of us have been going to Torrey Pines our whole lives and Jake spent 10 years working at the park. It is insane to think that Sabina probably chatted up Jake while he was on duty all those years ago. If you choose to take a quick nature walk the weekend of the wedding, we recommend parking on Coast Highway and walking through the parking lot. That'll save you a pretty penny. Also, stop by the visitor center or info booth and chat with some of the docents... you may see them again at the wedding.
This is definitely the closest restaurant of the recommendations to the venue and hotel. As two people that have Pizza Port almost every week, this 100% had to be on the list. Grab Sabina's favorite, the Lahaina with extra marinara on the side, or Jake's, the Monterey, and tell us which is best. Don't forget a pint as well ;)
This is probably the cheapest (and closest since it's an extension of our venue) for golf at just $38 for 18 holes during the weekend. Jake knows this course well from his high school days and you may even see him playing a round the morning of the wedding.
When visiting the best dive bar around, make sure to bring some extra cash and treat yourself to a $12 prime rib dinner. If you're lucky, you may run into the owner Jerry sitting at the bar. Enjoy this blast from the past before it goes away!
Seven Caves is one of our favorite distilleries in San Diego. If Sabina has not already dragged you to a tasting (or if you want to go again), all you need to do is go to the website and select "Spirits + Cocktails Private Tasting" for your group of 4-10 people. Geoff, the owner, will walk you through many of his small-batch spirits and make you some delicious cocktails based on your preference. When there, definitely try the Paper Plane and get some canned cocktails to-go.
If you're flying in for the wedding, be sure to stop off at Seaport Village. From there you can visit the Midway, Star of India, or grab margaritas/beers in the main square. Our favorite spot is the second floor of Mike Hess for tacos, beers, and a beautiful view of the water. From Seaport, you can also hop on a water taxi to Coronado for only $7.
