Things To Do
Spencer Butte
This is one of the most popular hikes in Eugene and was the site of one of Jake & Rachel's early dates! Climb about 1000 feet in elevation over 2-3 miles for a view of Eugene and the Willamette Valley. (The trailhead is not far from the Amazon Pool so could make for a nice combined trip)
Amazon Pool
This is a must-visit for swimmers and families alike. You can find Rachel here most days during the summer - either swimming laps or soaking up the sun! Both children and adults will LOVE the vicinity which includes high dives and numerous water slides.
King Estate Winery
King Estate is one of Oregon's best known wineries and the location of our third date, on which Rachel felt comfortable enough to invite Leslie as well :-) We have returned numerous times since, often with family members!
Sarver Winery
Another of our favorite vineyards, Sarver is especially amenable to pre-visit bike rides through the beautiful surrounding foothills.
Belknap Hot Springs, Lodge and Gardens.
This destination boasts both a gorgeous drive along the McKenzie River to get there as well as a majestic setting in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Enjoy a walk through the gardens and a soak in the hot springs pool. The trip is about an hour from Eugene.
Bend
Bend is one of the best mountain towns in all of Oregon and a true outdoor paradise. A 2-3 hour drive from the Eugene area, Bend is well worth a visit (either this trip or on another) for the hikes, mountain scenes, Deschutes River floats, food, and local craft brews.
Eagles Rest Trailhead - Lower
This is a great hike with a great view although it may be a little tricky to find. It is located near Lowell, the town in which Rachel teaches middle school! The hike is only about 2-miles so very easy for beginners.
Bohemia Mines
Not for the faint of heart, the drive up to this historic mining town takes 4WD and about an hour of navigating through rocky mountain roads, but if you have the time it is well worth the trip for the view. It is also the site of Jake & Rachel's engagement!
Tacovore
Best margaritas in town. Period. And just a short walk from Rachel & Jake's humble abode!

A must-visit for any out-of-towners. Dutch Bros serves delicious coffee as well as fun ambience! Choose from a plethora of locations.
