Wouldn't it be nice!
It was May of 2021, a warm and sunny Saturday in Piedmont Park. Nina walked up to meet friends for volleyball and there stood Jake, probably sporting his faded Star Wars t-shirt. Introduced by Austin and Sawyer Dils, Nina and Jake's lives were...not yet changed. The story picks up in October of 2021 when Jake and Nina both attended a bonfire at Thomas Nelson's house (now he's our officiant..woohoo!) Austin and Sawyer Dils bragged about Jake's design skills and made him show Nina his very cool Halloween posters. Nina thought to herself "This guy is pretty artsy and kind of cute! Could he be a potential crush?" and then she thought "nah”. Later that month, Nina hosted a Halloween Costume party and invited lots of friends including Jake. That night, Nina would be dressed up as Margot Tenenbaum and Jake as Richie Tenenbaum. A couples costume?? Absolutely, but unintentionally. Jake had planned to be Richie and Nina had planned to be Margot without talking about it. Surely this was a sign and they fell in love that night? Unfortunately, not yet. Although Nina’s interest was peaked and she tried to convince a friend to go for Jake. Jake and Nina would run into each other more frequently as fall turned into winter and Jake started coming to “Groovy movie Club”, a movie watching group that Nina and friends had started. Nina would invite Jake to group hangouts and thought he was cool. She had an “on again off again crush” if you will. ~The Haircut~ One Sunday in January, 2022, the stars aligned. Nina’s crush on Jake was “on” AND he walked into church with a fresh haircut. Not just any haircut though. Jake went from shoulder length hair to a suave clean cut haircut and he looked like a new person. Nina told the Dils “Jake’s haircut looks nice!” and they responded “you should tell him yourself!” Nina told her friend Lauren “Jake’s haircut looks nice!” and she responded “I want you to have a crush on Jake, he’s so great.” It was official, Nina liked Jake and Jake liked Nina. On February 20, 2022, after church, Jake asked Nina out. The next day they walked through a rainy and chilly Piedmont Park. They talked about music and movies and their mutual love for SPAM and they knew this was it. November 8, 2022, outside of the restaurant Canoe in Atlanta Jake got down on one knee in the gardens along the river and asked Nina to marry him. She said "YES", stood in shock, bawled, and almost passed out. It was all very chill and “cool girl” of her. June 10, 2023 the story of Jake and Nina as husband and wife will begin.
