Jake and I first met at Carpe Diem Coffee & Tea Co. He was working there and at the time I was going up there everyday. We never said more than "hello" and coffee related things to each other until I mentioned to a mutual friends of ours one night that I thought he was cute. She, of course, told him. We began talking, went on a couple of dates, and the rest is history!
About a year and a half ago, Jake and I went on a two week long cross country road trip. One of the places we went on this trip was Portland. Jake had been there before and fell in love with it. He insisted we go during our road trip because he knew I would love it too. He was right. Since then, we have been wanting to go back as soon as possible. In March, we decided we would start planning a week long trip to Portland for the beginning of October. While we were there, we planned on doing a photoshoot with Colette, a photographer in Portland, who is actually from Mobile. Colette suggested we do the shoot at Cape Kiwanda, a spot on the coast that features beautiful cliffs. We climbed up one of the cliffs and began the photoshoot. One of the shots she wanted was for us to run towards each other and jump in each others arms. I started running, but came to a halt right in front of Jake. Instead of running, he knelt down on one knee. It was more beautiful and perfect than I ever could have imagined. And little did I know, Jake and Colette had been planning this from day one.
