One of the best things about Seattle is its proximity to the mountains. Rattlesnake Ridge (don't confuse with Rattlesnake Ledge) is a quick 30 min drive from Seattle, its an easy 4 mile roundtrip hike with stunning views of the turquoise lake! Marie and her mom hiked it a few years ago in about an hour. Another easier option is Gold Creek Pond which has incredible views and is a flat two mile loop, an hour outside of Seattle. Some of Jake and Marie's favorite, more challenging hikes are Mount Colchuck, Mailbox Peak, and Tolmie Peak.
Take a quick 30 min ferry ride to Bainbridge Island! You can catch the ferry in downtown, the ride is fun and offers beautiful views, there's even a little cafe on the boat to grab coffee or a treat! The ferry drops you off in downtown Bainbridge which has a ton of cute shops and restaurants. Marie and Jake lived on the island in 2016 when Jake was in the Navy!
Enjoy a beer on the outside patio near the marina and south lake union! Its a fun, vibrant spot that gets crowded in the summer so get there early. Jake and Marie often rent bikes or walk from downtown on the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop trail which takes you straight there.
