We were in the same class of twenty-seven kids from first grade through twelfth at St. Patrick School. I always thought Jake was cute, but it wasn't until the summer after Sophomore year that we started talking. Jake had been pulled up to varsity baseball, and I sent him and a few of our friends a text congratulating them. We had texted before, but on that day, we both agreed something felt different, there was a spark. Since that day, we have talked pretty much every single day and never looked back. We've grown together through life's many phases, including attending both proms together, graduating from high school, going to college, starting our careers, and now to sharing the most significant step of our lives, getting married. I've watched Jake grow into being the most compassionate, kind, and thoughtful man that I could have ever dreamed of. At the beginning of August, we will celebrate eight years of dating, and at the end of August, we'll start our married life together. Thank you for being a part of our lives and for celebrating our love story with us!
On a warm summer morning at the lake, I woke to Jake singing in my window. Like most cottage mornings, we started with having a cup of coffee and reading our devotional on the boat out by the lake. Jake then started fishing off the dock and asked, "can you come help me with this one?" As I came to the edge of the boat, I saw my dream ring sparkling as he reeled it out of the Nevins lake water on his fishing pole. He got down on one knee right on the edge of the boat, and I said yes before he could even finish asking. We celebrated the rest of the day with family at our favorite place in the world, the lake.
