Our Story

2010-Present

Maggie and Jake’s “how did you meet?” story, spans over a decade, so we will attempt to sum it up quickly. Maggie moved to Barrington, RI in 2009 and shortly thereafter, began her Freshman year of high school. Being new to Barrington, it took her some time to meet everyone, so, it wasn’t until Sophomore year study hall, that she and Jake met. In study hall, Maggie and Jake became fast friends and began hanging out both in and outside of school, with their mutual friends. Fast forward to their Junior year, Jake asked Maggie to prom, and obviously she said "yes" (strictly as friends of course). As their time in high school eventually came to a close, Maggie committed to attending the University of Delaware and Jake was headed to Gettysburg college. With the start of their freshman year, they both fully immersed themselves into college life - their friendship taking a bit of a hiatus. Then, one summer day, a couple years later, while home on break, Maggie noticed Jake was in town, and spontaneously texted him to ask what he and his friends were up to. Jake invited Maggie to join their plans that night, and that she did. For the rest of summer, they were nearly inseparable. Fall came around, as it always does, and they both went back to school. But this time they stayed in touch. Two months into the semester, Jake invited Maggie to visit him at Gettysburg and that weekend, they finally admitted their feelings for each other were more than just friendship. Now...the “who asked who” to date officially, is up for debate. Depending on who you ask, you might get a different answer. Regardless, Maggie and Jake made their relationship official on October 10, 2015. Upon graduating from College, Jake moved to Colorado, to enjoy skiing out west, Maggie moved to Boston to start her career, and somehow, they survived 2 years of a long distance relationship. In 2019, Jake moved back to Boston and in 2020 Maggie and Jake moved into their first apartment together. Over all these years, and across all these states, Maggie and Jake have established two places that are very special to them as a couple. Bethel, Maine, where Jake has attempted to teach Maggie his love for skiing and remained incredibly patient when she inevitably refuses to ski anything but Greens. And Block Island, where Maggie forces Jake to sit on the beach for hours even though we all know he prefers pools. Every Winter they spend as many weekends up in Maine as they can and every Summer they try to spend at least one week on the Island. Little did Maggie know, that Jake would have something very special planned for their 2022 Block Island trip. On August 27, 2022, on one of Block Island's Greenways, after over a decade of friendship and almost 7 years as a couple, Jake asked Maggie to marry him...and just like Junior Prom, of course, she said “yes!”
