We're a Match

How did we meet? Tinder. We've never been embarrassed about how we met, even back when people thought Tinder couples were a joke, destined to fail. Still, we proudly shared our story. The dating app Tinder was both a bleak, soulless hellscape and a flourishing, hearty meadow with strangers on the Internet meeting for dinner, concerts, outdoor adventures, and the like. The new "Super Like" had just been introduced, and after a few stretches of wanting to give the app up forever, Jake decided to give this feature a try. His first Super Like was electronically delivered to an adventurous Mario Kart aficionado (who would later win every single race they ever had) looking for a partner to share her fervor for wine and cheese. Keely was stunned when she looked at her phone and saw a rando from Lincoln, Nebraska had managed his way past the traditional match process of swiping right and landed right in her DMs! A stunningly handsome man (posing with a Heineken and a chicken) proposed the start to an incredible friendship. While he didn't have a car, lived 50 miles away, and might have made a dick joke in his cold open, she was smitten. The destitution, the distance, and the dick joke weren't going to keep these two apart! After our first real date (a concert in Kansas City where we stayed up too late and jumped around like fools) we were quick on our way to inseparable. Keely would drive down to Lincoln and stay for a weekend, and Jake would eventually get a really cool car and come up to visit Omaha; the relationship was blooming. A New Year's Eve party would soon seal the deal. As the ball began to drop and the bottles of champagne got ready to pop, everyone huddled together to cheer in the New Year! Amid the chaos of being perfectly on time to shout "Happy New Year!" Jake pulled Keely close and whispered in her ear "I love you." Loud enough for everyone that mattered to hear. Loud enough for everyone who cared to hear. Loud enough for the love of his life to hear!
