We first crossed paths junior year of high school at prom — barely a “hi,” just a few passing glances before we went our separate ways. We talked here and there and spent time with mutual friends, but the timing just wasn’t quite right. It wasn’t until freshman year of college, when Jake was at Texas State University and Kaylee was at St. Edward’s University, that everything finally aligned. When we reconnected, it felt easy and natural, like we had been given a second chance at something that had always been meant to be. Our first date was at Red Lobster followed by Amy’s Ice Cream, and somewhere between dinner and dessert, we both knew this was different. What started as a simple night out turned into five incredible years of laughter, growth, late-night talks, big dreams, and building a life side by side.
