Our Story

Question

How did we meet? (Jake’s Story)

Answer

I was sitting in my Austin, TX apartment one night, when I decided to open up Mutual, and saw this stunning girl named Kathryn. She looked adventurous, outgoing, and beautiful! I was immediately intrigued, and swiped up (showing that I was interested). The next day, I got a notification that we had matched, and that Kathryn had messaged me! Needless to say, I was STOKED. We started messaging, and there was an immediate connection. Messaging quickly turned into FaceTimes, and talking to Kathryn every night quickly became the best part of my days. With a trip to Hawaii for Kathryn, and me heading home for thanksgiving, it wasn’t until almost a month later that we could go on our first date! By then, I really felt like I had this amazing connection with Kathryn, and was counting down the days until our first date! With so much time to get to know each other leading up to it, and because Kathryn is PERFECT, our first date was the best one that I had ever gone on, by FAR. She flew out to Austin (Shoutout to American Airlines), and we spent the day together, and I was SMITTEN. The first date led to date number two the next weekend, and the rest was history!! I knew I was now on a mission to do anything I could to keep dating this amazing girl. 37 weekend trips later, we decided that we wanted to see each other EVERY day, not just on the weekends, and I moved to Dallas. What an amazing ride. Can’t believe I get to marry this wonderful girl <3

Question

How did we meet (Kathryn’s Story)

Answer

I had been on the dating apps for a while, and I came across a cute blonde boy that I was really excited about! Beyond the blue eyes, I quickly learned that he graduated from the same program as me at BYU (marketing), loved to travel, and loved his family. The next day or so we facetimed for the first time. I remember ending the call and feeling so giddy! Eventually those facetime calls turned into daily calls. I lived in Dallas and he lived in Austin at the time, and we decided we wanted to meet in person. Since it was around the holidays and I had a trip with friends, we didn't get to meet for about a month. I have flight benefits so I flew from Dallas to Austin for a day trip. Jake picked me up and had the day filled with brunch, walking around Austin looking at fun shops, and just talking! I even delayed my departure flight back home so I could spend more time with him! He dropped me off at the airport and I knew I wanted to see him again!! We quickly planned our next weekend to meet up. He drove up to Dallas at 4 IN THE MORNING so he could get to a good place to work remotely, and then be available after work! We babysat for my brother that night. Jake was great with the 4 kids and very helpful (he's going to be the best dad)! We spent the rest of the weekend together and got to explore Dallas. From there we eventually made it official to be boyfriend/girlfriend. I shared my flight benefits with him (I work at American Airlines) and we traded off flying back and forth from Austin and Dallas to visit each other. We also went to lots of fun places like Utah, California, Florida, and New York. Jake moved to Dallas in July - hallelujah to no more long distance!!! Jake proposed over Christmas break in San Diego and I am OVER the moon to marry him! He is everything I need and want. I am the luckiest girl!
