It was our sophomore year of college. I was traveling back home for Thanksgiving to see my family. I decided to drive to BWI instead of taking the school shuttle and ended up in long term parking. I sat down on the shuttle bus to the terminal. Sitting across from me was this girl with a bag with a Gettysburg G on it, and sitting next to her was Kate. I said "hi" and we continued to hang out until our planes took off. I got noodles at the Panda Express, she got chicken and broccoli. We bonded over our love for Chinese food, being native New Englanders, and skiing. I loved her smile. I contacted her a week later and we started hanging out. I've always been proud that I said "hi" to the cute girl on the bus... -Jake
Jake took me out to dinner in the South End on the last day of school to celebrate the end of the school year and start of summer. After dinner, Jake brought me to walk along the Charles to watch the sunset. We walked along the Esplanade holding hands. As we walked over a footbridge, Jake stopped and started saying the many things he loved about me. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! He had arranged for our friend Nate to hide for over an hour to take a photo of the proposal. After calling our parents, we got in a cab to take us to the bar where he had asked friends to meet us. I had no idea that Jake had taken my parents out to dinner weeks before to ask for their blessing, and had asked my sister Allie to help him find the perfect ring. Best surprise ever! -Kate
