You've probably heard the buzz about Berkeley Bowl - a grocery store that has long been a staple here. It's known for its locally grown/locally distributed produce and dairy, unique healthy snack finds, and a large fill-your-own bags of nuts and grains. We highly recommend you stop by, even if it's just for the experience of walking through this crunchy Bay area establishment.
Just north of Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve and the UC Botanical Gardens is Tilden Regional Park. We recommend watching the sunset at Grizzly Peak Vista, going for a swim in Lake Anza, or hiking one of the many trails offered. For younger guests, Tilden has a Merry-Go-Round (reservations recommended for weekends), a 12-minute Steam Train, as well as a Little Farm and Environmental Education Center.
Beautiful garden located in the Berkeley hills, just north of UC Berkeley's campus. The site is divided by regions of the world - including Hannah's favorites "Deserts of the Americas," "Southern Africa," and "Garden of Old Roses." If you enjoy your time at gardens, we also recommend Morcom Rose Garden in Oakland -- it's a free and wonderful place to picnic!
This was the first place Hannah & Jake ever ate at upon arriving in the Bay, thanks to the suggestion of Hannah's brother, Jeremy. Renowned Burmese restaurant located in one of our favorite neighborhoods, Temescal. Surrounded by great bars and other excellent food options -- you can't go wrong!
