We’re Getting Married!

She was feisty and from New Jersey. He was coiffed and from Connecticut. Would it be possible for these two to get along? At the start of our friendship in the spring of 2013, our soon-to-be bestie, Steven, introduced us and we quickly took an interest in each other's playful wit, cheery demeanor and Tri-State Judaism. When we learned that we came from differing commuter states, our jabs at NJ and CT became reminiscent of middle school teasing. Tensions were high. Just ask Garrett, our other bestie, about the time he had to break up an inebriated bickering session at his house party. "Jersey Shore is trashy!" "Well at least we have culture!" Little did we know our tension would evolve into a strong friendship. We eventually started dating during Chanukah 2015, Judaism's most romantic, candlelit holiday. A year or so later, after graduation, we decided to put our relationship to the ultimate test: a month-long road trip around the states, side by side for 30 days, living out of Jake's Hyundai. Needless to say, we learned every little quirk about each other, had a blast doing so and lived to tell the tale. We eventually moved in together in Brooklyn in the fall of 2018. As the four-year mark approached, we decided to treat ourselves to an all-inclusive vacation to the Dominican Republic. Once there, we quickly learned every other couple was celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary, which jump started our "forever" conversation. In the middle of that talk, a kind but fervent gentleman exclaimed, "Four years?! What are you waiting for? I'm ordained, let's tie this knot right here, right now." We blushed and decided to go snorkeling instead. Eventually Jake smartened up, got a ring during lockdown and booked a cabin in upstate NY for our five-year anniversary. He planned a pleasant hike that would end on an outcrop overlooking the Hudson Valley where he popped the question and she said, "Of course!" Join us as our story continues 10.08.22. See ya there!
