Conveniently located on the drive from Milwaukee up to the hotel and wedding is Kopp's Custard. If you go to any place on this list of recommendations, go to Kopp's. They have vanilla and chocolate every day, but their Flavor Forecast can be used to scope out the two additional flavors that change daily. Some are standard, some are wacky, but all are amazing. Hungry for dinner? They have giant burgers and chicken sandwiches that beat out the other custard spot you might be thinking of ANY day of the week :)
Balzac is one of our favorite date night spots, and Haley's favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Stop in for a small plates-style dinner on Friday or Sunday night - if you reserve online you can also book a wine tasting with their sommelier!
Chef Dane Baldwin of The Diplomat won the 2022 James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Midwest and if you like good food, you NEED to eat here at some point over the weekend. Another small plates place perfect for a date night or a small group, their food and cocktails are delicious but not pretentious - Jake's favorite is the Diplomac, their take on the Big Mac :)
If you are looking for a slightly cheaper, just-as-delicious place to grab a bite, look no further than La Masa and their delicious empanadas. They also have a cocktail list that changes almost weekly, and they taste just as good as the empanadas.
We had our first date here (and Haley drunkenly said "I love you" to Jake for the first time here as well)! If you like beer or arcade games, this is the spot for you. They also have a N64 set up if Mario Kart is your game. Be sure to go with a group so you can kick some butt at Killer Queen!
