The seafront is one of our favourite places to go! Portsmouth has a very traditional British seaside. Along it, you'll find Clarence Pier, a collection of old-fashioned amusement arcades and a funfair. There are a smattering of traditional chip-shops and cafes, along with an aquarium. A day out on the seafront is an absolute must while you're here!
Albert Road is a magnificent strip of independent shops, bars and cafes with tons of character. Visit an antique store, pick up some tasty street food, watch a show at the theatre, or enjoy a beer and a board game. It's the awesome street that's right on our doorstep!
Portsdown Hill is the perfect spot to take in a fantastic view of the whole of Portsmouth. Unusually, this spot has developed a big reputation with the locals owing to the extremely popular burger van that's open 24/7. As odd as that may sound, a burger at Mick's on top of the hill is a Pompey rite of passage...!
The dockyard is home to historic warships including HMS Victory and HMS Warrior, both of which have been kept true to their past. And don't forget the famous Mary Rose back from the ocean floor after over 300 years. Step on board and experience history!
One of our favourite spots to eat! Pie & Vinyl is extremely popular for its selection of local-themed savoury pies, adorable mismatched crockery, and a huge collection of records. This is a unique place, one we'd recommend for an early lunch as it gets busy!
Jake's still trying to convince Athena to try it. But until then, you'll have to judge for yourself whether this British delicacy is fit for your tastebuds (Jake's note - it's delicious). Hot tip - 'large' is way too large. The one linked above is our local Chippy.
For a genuinely British cultural experience, a football game is a must! Portsmouth are one of the most passionately-supported clubs in England - go to a game, and you'll be swept up by the raucous atmosphere. Beware - you will hear an awful lot of bad language...!
