Question

What should I wear?

Answer

This is a time to get dressed up in either black tie or Indian formal attire like saris, lehengas, and kurtas. For people new to Indian attire, a couple of details below. If you decide to wear Indian attire, stay away from reds and greens as that is typically reserved for the bride: Sari: a traditional garment consisting of several yards of lightweight cloth draped to form a skirt and a shoulder covering Lehenga / Gagra Choli: an ankle length skirt paired with an embroidered top Kurta Pajama: a traditional outfit typically worn by men, consisting of a loose fitting tunic and trousers For those looking for a place to buy / rent Indian attire, please see below: Aayka Fashion: A South Asian fashion brand based in NYC, they offer traditional wear for women (lehengas, saris, jewelry), men, and kids. You can buy, rent, or create custom pieces. https://aaykafashion.com/ Their Manhattan showroom lets you browse products and work with their styling team to finalize your look.
