How to Get There

The Wedding Website of Jake Jackson and Anika Shakespeare
Getting to Moreton Island can be a bit tricky, but oh so worth it!

Travel Note

Barge Information

The main way to get over to Moreton Island is by Micat. Departing from 14 Howard Smith Dr, Port Of Brisbane, it is a 90min trip over to the Island. The barge sells out quick, so it is recommended to book this at minimum, 6 months in advance. The barge will land at Tangalooma wrecks, straight onto the sand.

Travel Note

4WD Permits

Only 4WD can access the island and each vehicle will need a permit from 4WD Permits - Mulgumpin Camping.

Travel Note

Driving to Kooringal

Kooringal is a 45min drive from the Tangalooma Wrecks. Right near the Wrecks is “Middle Road” which you will need to drive, which takes you straight across the island to the Eastern Beach. Once on the Eastern Beach, you turn left and straight down the island to the tip, where there will be a sign to turn towards the Kooringal Township. Please see links to different maps.

Travel Note

The Tides

The Eastern Beach is extremely tidal so you should only travel on low or mid to outgoing tide. You will not be able to travel down the beach on high tide. You can access the tide guides here Queensland Tide Tables.

Travel Note

Boat

If you have a boat and want to travel to Moreton Island by boat, please reach out to Jake & Anika who can chat you to further about getting there.
