As many of you know, the internet and the world of dating apps are to thank for bringing Jake and Alexis together. Jake was turned down twice for a first date and Meema (Alexis’s grandmother) is to thank for Alexis finally giving him a chance. The first date began with Jake turning on Taylor Swift after asking what music Alexis listened to as we drove to Grand Haven, which led to a beer, a walk down the pier, and a dinner shared on the dimly lit patio at Snug Harbor. They knew something about this night was special as they sat down on Meema’s couch to share a pint of ice cream to complete the evening. Somewhere down the road, things were getting serious and Jake had been informed by Alexis that if he wanted to propose he had to wait until she finished Grad School. Late summer of 2023 that happened. They were at Jake’s grandparent’s house in Silver Lake for the weekend. One of Jake and Alexis’s favorite activities to do together is hiking, and he had one planned. A beautiful September day started with an early morning drive to Manistee to hike the “Big M”. They celebrated the hike with a flight of beer at a brewery before heading back to Jake’ grandparents. Jake was very insistent that they watch one last sunset down at the beach to mark the end of summer. That’s where the proposal right out of a romance novel occurred. Dancing to the song Alexis will walk down the aisle to, he pulled away and got down on one knee. Which brings us here. We can’t be more excited to share the day you, our closest family and friends.
