Jake originally liked Abby's best friend (Teagan), who didn't like him back. One day when Teagan & Abby were in the car on their way to Target, Jake was texting Teagan, asking what she wanted for Christmas, he wanted to get her a present. Teagan told him he didn't need to get her something, He told her he wanted to, but she told him not to. He then replied: "As you wish" Now, The Princess Bride was and still is Abby's favorite film, and, as you may know, in said film "As You Wish" really means "I Love You" Abby, having been made privy to the conversation, instantly thought back to this symbolic meaning, and so, being such good friends with Teagan, instinctively I grabbed her phone and said, "This is Abby, Is that a princess bride quote?" "Who is Abby?" Jake replied, "And no, though I am familiar with that movie" "You should know who I am" Abby texted back. Abby then asked if he liked the movie and he said yes, of course. They then had a several hour-long conversation about the princess bride, & then movies & tv shows & the whole bit, all while Abby texted him on Teagan's phone. Meanwhile, Abby was walking around in Target with Teagan & her mother trying to find clothes or something, and Teagan was peering over Abby's shoulder periodically to try to find out what they were talking about. Well randomly, halfway into their conversation, Abby said to Jake, "Fun fact, if you leave your shoes in a shoe store unattended, The store will take your shoes. It doesn't matter how disgusting they look, the store will take them." "Well, what if they have holes in them?" Jake replied "Doesn't matter," said Abby, "The store will take em." Now, Abby said this because about a week before, she was with Teagan & Teagan's sister in Nordstrom's looking for shoes. Abby took her shoes off (to try other shoes on) and left them unattended in one of the shoe aisles. The store then took her shoes, because they thought a homeless person had switched out their old shoes for a pair of brand-new ones and left the store (apparently her shoes looked like that of a homeless person) and it took forever to try to find out where they went. So, Abby randomly added that, because she likes being random. Well later on, long after the conversation had ended, Jake texted Teagan and asked her, "Hey, who was that girl that was texting me on your phone" Teagan was texting Abby as she was talking to him, and so she asked Abby, "What do I say?" So Abby told her to reply, "What girl?" to which he replied, "The long conversation that I had with Abby" "What are you talking about?" Teagan asked Abby then had her go back and screenshot the whole conversation (to look back upon) and then delete it, And then asked her to send a screenshot of the last time they spoke and their current conversation, with the whole conversation Abby had with him missing, "What?" Jake replied. He then sent screenshots of the whole conversation. "I don't have that in my phone" Teagan replied. Then genius struck. Abby had Teagan say, "Wait, what time did that happen?" And Jake told her the time. "I didn't have my phone then, I had lost it" Teagan told him. "You lost it?" Jake replied. Teagan continued "Ya, I left my phone in my shoes while I was trying on shoes at target and the store took my shoes" "Wait, the store took your shoes? And your phone?" Jake asked. "Ya, so I didn't have my phone" Teagan replied And so Abby & Teagan implanted the idea that a random target employee had been texting him, but made him think he came up with the idea himself. Abby later got Jake's number from Teagan and started texting him saying it was Abby, Making him think that she was a target employee who wrote down his number from Teagan's phone, and then started texting him on her own. Long story short, the prank lasted a few months, Abby admitted to being a friend of Teagan a few months later And Jake still has Abby in his contacts as, "Abby" (in quotes) To this day, because her first name is actually Sarah.
