Early October 2018 we met through some friends and I had just completely dismissed the thought of him for various reasons but he hadn't and I had no idea he liked me that much. He would go to collegiate games knowing I would be there. I tried to wave to him but the look on his face made me think he hated me, but he says he didn't even realize. (He was probably just nervous and awkward.) He then reached out to me casually and we spent hours talking into the night. Meanwhile, he had a Bible midterm that next morning--(he got a 57% on that). After that, we started talking and saw each other every day. Within a couple of weeks, I knew that I loved him regardless of my friends telling me to slow down and not rush so I waited to tell him until he said it first. December 1, 2018, on a rainy Saturday, he told me he loved me and I told him. After getting permission, Jake asked me to be his girlfriend with a bouquet of red roses on January 22, 2019.

Due to the pandemic, Jake was working for my dad in New York. Jake told me he was going to tell me when he got permission to marry me so I honestly did not think it was going to happen yet, plus my birthday was only a week later. My friend Rachael Senecal texted me asking if Jake and I could help her out and let her practice couples photoshoots on us. I agreed and still had no idea. She took a couple of pictures to get her lighting right. Jake and I were just laughing because it felt funny to have our pictures taken. Rachael told us to look at each other and Jake just smiled and said, "I love you". As he said that he reached into his jacket and I immediately knew what was about to happen. He knelt and asked me to marry him. With tears, I said, "Yes." Afterward, we went and got ice cream with my friends.
