Friends and Family, Due to the circumstances and events happening in our world and community, we have decided to postpone our wedding. We would have never expected that this beautiful and momentous day that we have been envisioning would crumble in an instant. First and foremost, we care about the safety and health of our family and friends, and understand we are making the best choice for everyone. These change of events cannot shake our faith. The good Lord chose us to be bride and groom during these difficult times for a reason. We stand strong in our faith the He is putting us where we need to be. Thank you to our family and friends during this difficult and emotional time. Y'all have made these times better than imaginable. Once we have more information and better details of our new wedding date, we will be updating you as well as this site. Love, Tara & Jake
Tara and Jake knew of one another for two years due to a Facebook Jeep Club. After several weeks of Jake's buddies encouraging him to ask Tara out, he did so via Instagram. That's right, he hit up her DM's! Surprisingly, after Tara was 30 minutes late to their first date (shocking!), Jake waited for her. It wasn't until the second date that Tara worked up the courage to make the first move and kissed Jake on his 31st birthday. It wasn't even a month later and Jake asked Tara to be his girlfriend at her favorite place, the Guadalupe River.
Two weeks before their first anniversary together, Jake's mother sent a group text to the family to have everyone over for Jake's birthday. Tara didn't think anything of it, and graciously accepted. That same week, Tara had a friend in town from Perth, Australia. She tagged along to dinner and was excited to see the two Longhorns on Jake's family property. After a drink or two at the house, Jake asked Tara's friend if she was ready to see the property and the Longhorns, and the three of them jumped in the Ranger. They drove around for what seemed forever, then finally showed the Aussie the beautiful animals up close. Upon returning to the house, Jake had stopped the Ranger several feet from the house and looked at Tara. Peering over Jake's shoulder Tara saw a table underneath the beautiful trees in the front yard with a bottle of her favorite champagne, two glasses, flowers and a box. As they were walking toward the trees, Tara was overcome with emotion, so she doesn't remember everything (again, shocking) but Jake got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. It gets better... After what felt like an eternity of hugs and kisses, Jake's sister came out of the house wanting to take photos. As Tara was trying to compose herself, his sister said, "look who is here!". Behind her was Tara's entire family! Coming from Waco, Dallas, Colorado and San Francisco! It was a beautiful moment for everyone to have that many people come together and support Tara and Jake and their engagement. Tara and Jake cannot wait to share their wedding day with you!
