After spotting each other across the playground back in 4th grade, we have never been able to stay away from each other for too long. We have experienced so many stages of life together, and now we couldn't imagine doing the rest of our lives apart! From elementary school graduation to college graduation, we have always been our happiest when we've been together. After four years of dating and an incredible year of being married, our love has grown into something even more incredible than we had ever imagined!!
Picking up the ring from the jeweler after work, I knew I was going to have trouble holding onto the ring for too long. So, I decided a couple of hours would be plenty of time. I asked Kenzie to go for a hike with me down by the Coralville Reservoir, our favorite hiking trail along the water. That night happened to have clear skies which meant a nice sunset to propose with, hopefully swaying her answer to be a yes. About a half a mile in, I pulled her off the trail to sit on a rock down by the water where we would sometimes stop. We talked about our relationship and how much she means to me, and that is when I got down on one knee and popped the question. Happy tears followed, and luckily the sunset did it's trick.
Although postponing our original wedding was such a difficult decision to make at the time, it turned out to be one of the most memorable and incredible days of our lives! On a hot July evening last summer, we said "I do" with our parents, grandparents, and siblings in the Tennison backyard underneath the pergola. How Long Will I Love You playing on the speakers and 900+ flower petals later, we became HUSBAND AND WIFE!
