Jaison’s Version: Our story began the evening of September 18, 2022. I was at home in my apartment, catching up on Netflix, when I received a notification from Hinge informing me that someone had liked a photo of me. Curious, I checked it out and immediately found myself smiling—this girl was stunning! As I browsed her profile, I noticed she had a unique preference: she liked bald guys with beards. Little did she know, she was describing my future self perfectly. My opening line to her was, "I already have the beard, and balding is in my future. I guess we're halfway there lol." That message broke the ice, and soon we were exchanging numbers and getting to know each other. I discovered she was studying optometry at the University of Houston but was currently on an externship in a very small rural city in Oklahoma giving eye exams to the Native American community. When she mentioned the name of the city, I was astonished—it was the exact place where I had worked as a travel nurse just a year earlier, in the same hospital. We even have matching ID's! It felt like fate. We continued chatting, and I learned she would be visiting town for her cousin's wedding. That's when we decided to have our first date. Since then, we've been inseparable. Shauna’s Version: It all began in 2022 when I was bored in Oklahoma from studying for my board exams and decided to download Hinge and stumbled upon this guy who caught my eye. For those that don't know, Hinge is a dating app that allows you to pick prompts and the other person answers them as a conversation starter. One of my prompts was "I'm weirdly attracted to" and my response was "bald guys with beards." At the time, Jaison didn't fit that description, but as fate would have it, things clearly changed ;) Knowing I was on the path to becoming an Optometrist, Jaison replied, "I've been looking for an eye doctor. You think you'd wanna look into my eyes? Maybe over drinks?" Smoooooth. According to Jaison, I was immediately "sprung" and totally "simping" for him, a fact he loves to laugh about. My sister Sheena would say the same when she called me on FaceTime after my call with Jaison and said “nobody smiles that much doing the dishes” and knew he was the one for me.  Oddly enough, Jaison already moved to Houston from Miami while I already had plans to fly back home to Houston just two weeks after matching with him. It doesn't get any better than that right?  After countless texts and spending hours and hours on facetime - when I should have been studying- I discovered in Jaison the most thoughtful, kind-hearted, and loyal partner. Being with him has taught me the true meaning of unconditional love. I wish everyone could experience a love like ours. Jaison, I can't wait to spend a lifetime gazing into your eyes just like you envisioned when we first started talking. I'm looking forward to walking down the aisle and marrying my bald man with a beard ;)
