"Never in a million years did I think I'd find someone so utterly and completely perfect, someone who would make me happier than I ever dreamed I could be, someone that would touch my life so profoundly and just give me a whole new reason to breathe. But when I found you and realized that everything I anticipated you to be doesn't even compare to who you are."
E kala mai (sorry) for the unorthodox way and timing of this invitation. We waited to make sure our family arrived on island and were all COVID-cleared. We were married in a civil ceremony in 2019 just after my grandpa died, so that Scott could come home for the funeral and because Scott’s mom’s cancer had taken a turn for the worse. His mom passed while they were driving from California to see her, just before our move to South Carolina. We planned to Convalidate our marriage at Saint Damien of Molokai church with a big celebration on 10-10-2020, but COVID happened. So we postponed to 10-09-2021. COVID kept changing our plans. From contracting the virus a couple months ago (we were healed by the grace of God) to the local Molokai Livestock company shutting down, COVID also messed up our wedding preparation and diocese transfer. So as it is, we are planning a much simplified renewal of vows and blessing at the Kalaupapa overlook. It’s an “I Do Re-do.” We will ask those in attendance to wear masks, social distance 6 ft. apart and keep their “pods” to a maximum of 10 people. We will not have chairs, but will do a virtual celebration on Zoom and FB. After the ceremony, the newlyweds (again-weds) will have a drive-thru merienda in the parking lot. Again, please wear your masks as you drive thru. We hope to see you virtually or in person!
Due to COVID-19, we’ve had to make many adjustments to our wedding. You have all been so supportive through this time and we cannot thank you enough for all the love. We have decided to limit the physical gathering at our wedding ceremony and dinner reception. We will be live streaming the ceremony virtually for our extended family and friends. Although not what we envisioned, we hope that you can still join us remotely to celebrate our big day.
We hope you can join us in celebrating our marriage! If you can’t join us physically, we invite you to mail us a card with your best marriage or life advice. Please know that your presence is the best gift we could ever receive, but if not, we understand. Should you feel so inclined, we have our registries on this website, plus our Venmo QR code.
If traveling to Hawai'i to celebrate with us, please visit the travel tab on our website to prepare for your upcoming trip. When you arrive, please remember to wear your mask, sanitize hands often, and keep a 6 ft distance (2-arms length) from those not in your “pod,” especially when you are out and about. If you are not feeling well, please stay at your dwelling. We will understand.
