In New York City, the dedicated algorithms who curate these questions are members of an elite squad known as The Coffee Meets Bagel unit. These are their stories. Jaime and Drew's story began like many other twenty somethings in New York City, on a dating app, but quickly turned unique. In late January 2016 on a Sunday, Drew messaged Jaime, and they discovered that they were watching a Law and Order SVU marathon. It was small talk, but it seemed like something was there. A few days later, they had their first date at Mad Hatter bar, close to Jaime's then Murray Hill apartment. Drew left hopeful for a second date. Jaime recalled her roommate taking notice of how late she was out. Jaime and Drew spent upcoming weekends together, Drew absorbing as much knowledge as possible of The Bachelor during Ben's season, and Jaime learning who Nick Foles was before he was Super Bowl MVP. They say great minds often think alike. In June 2016, Jaime told Drew she had something to tell him. Drew said he thought he knew what it was, and in Jaime's apartment on a Saturday night, the first 'I love you' was exchanged.
During their first year of dating, they went for walks along the East River, occasionally stopping to sit and talk, so when it came time to propose, Drew knew he wanted the river to be involved in symbolic form. After sleuthy planning and talking with Jaime's sister and friends Drew had his plan. On their 3-year anniversary, they went out for what was assumed to be an ordinary dinner at Manhattan's Riverpark, except Drew had visited a few days prior to put the idea in motion. With an assumed wink and nod, the host told the couple their table wasn't ready and encouraged them to check out the view outside, where overlooking the river, Drew asked the biggest question of his life. An emotional Jaime holding back tears while absorbing the moment and over the moon about the ring said yes, and so began another exciting chapter. #JaimeSaysIDrew on August 26, 2023.
