We’re MARRIED!!!

Tyler and I met online through a dating website called plenty of fish. We started talking on April 27th, 2017 after I sent the first message!! I wasn’t looking for anything serious at the time but saw that Tyler was a paramedic in one of his photos and thought we might have similar interests! We talked for two weeks online before we finally met up on May 13th at a bar called Sweeney’s in St. Paul, MN. It was a Saturday and I was just getting off of work and met him around 4! He was waiting for me on a bench right outside of the bar and I was immediately excited when I saw him! We grabbed a table outside on the back patio with a few beers! After 4 hours and a few more beers later we talked about anything and everything. Neither of us could eat anything because we were both too nervous. It was the fastest 4 hours I’ve ever experienced. He walked me to my car and we shared our first kiss!! Butterflies ever since!! He texted me a few hours later saying he had a great time. I knew I had a good feeling about this one.

We met like most people these days, on a dating app. My initial thought was that she was pretty, but not really my type. But I thought, why not give it a shot. I was a little nervous before the date and to add to it I got a text from Jaime asking if the date was still on because she hadn’t heard from me that day. I thought we had set everything up the day before and figured I wouldn’t need to do anything other than show up. I was nervous that I had already shot myself in the foot before the date even started. I arrived at the bar, Sweeney’s, and was waiting out front for her. When she walked up I thought she looked very pretty. We got a table on the patio and settled in. Any type of nerves I had before the date just melted away. The conversations just flowed. It felt like we had known each other forever and were just catching up. Next thing I knew, 4 hours had gone by and we were paying our tab and leaving. I walked her to the car and knew that I wanted a kiss, but didn’t want to ruin the last few hours. We talked for a bit, before she asked if I was going to kiss her. We leaned in and shared an incredible kiss. And the rest is history.

Tyler and I went to downtown Minneapolis to celebrate my birthday! It was the weekend before my birthday, and we got a hotel for the night and had dinner plans on a roof top at a nearby restaurant! We got dressed up and had a great dinner. It was a perfect night for dinner and drinks on a roof top. We headed back to our hotel to grab a drink. Before I knew it, Tyler was down on one knee with our dog trooper by his side!! I started crying and said yes!! I was too excited to stay home so we went to a bar close by and they just so happen to have have a live band playing! We celebrated by drinking way too much!

I had an inkling that she was going to be the girl I would marry after our road trip to Colorado. We spent more than 28 hours in a car together on that trip. The fact that we didn’t kill each other after the trip was a good sign. We just clicked. It didn’t feel like work being with her. We didn’t always see eye to eye on things and have had our share of fights, but they never last long. The biggest obstacle for asking her was saving up the money for her perfect ring. I researched for months to find the right combination of ratings to get the perfect ring. When I picked it up, I knew right away that it was perfect. I made reservations for a hotel in Minneapolis and reservations to one of our favorite restaurants. I knew proposing in public was off the table, since both of us are fairly private people. After dinner, we got back to the hotel room, and I knew it was the perfect time. I had practiced a speech for days about how much she meant to me, how happy I am having her in my life, and how much I looked forward to spending the rest of my life with her. But all that went out the window when I got on my knee. All I could manage to get out was, "Would you like to spend your life with Trooper and I?". She still said yes even after that terrible speech.
