Rio Vazquez

Man of Honor

Honestly my favorite memories of you two is when I would get home to here y’all laughing while watching something. Jaime on the floor leaning his head back towards Nancy and Nancy laid across the couch just stoking his hair. Love you both so much.

Best Woman

I met Jaime (Mr. Lucero) during both our first year teaching in San Jose. I had recently moved to the area in the middle of the pandemic and him and Nancy became like family very quickly. They are the first people to offer to bring something to a party and the people to help you clean up after lots of laughs and drinks have been shared. I have only known Nancy and Jaime together as a couple but individually they are some of the most genuine people I have ever met.

Watching them challenge and encourage their career journey while growing into an amazing power couple sticking together when obstacles appear.

I met Jaime and Nancy the very first day of 1st year of UC Merced as well all lived on same floor becoming close friends from day one. There are so many stories it is hard to just share one. But the best memories would have to come from times during the years in the dorms where we would hangout in half dome, have potlucks, play night frisbee, game night at the Webber house and late nights watching Arrow. Nancy and Jaime genially the greatest friends that a guy can ask for. They always go out of their way to make sure they support their friends, provided great advice, a floor or couch to sleep on, and just most importantly love with all their hearts. That is what will guide them on this journey, love is the most strongest bonds (as a scientist I approve of this) that keep people not only together but to build happiness. This marriage is a testament to this idea, the was no obstacle, failure, challenge or virus that could keep them apart and find their way to happiness. I wish them nothing but love and happiness. Cherish every moment.

Ever since I met Nancy, I knew we were cut from the same cloth. One of my favorite memories of us is when we were just trying to get through the work day. I'm pretty sure we were both just exhausted from everything I was walking towards the office and she was walking to her room. No words were exchanged. Just a derp face and a thumbs up to each other. If it weren't for those moments together, I don't think I'd have gotten through the year without her. Although I haven't had much time to get to know Jaime, I know that he was made for Nancy. Please take care of my buddy for me. Cheers to the happy couple!

You see, I met Jaime on zoom while at ACE. And I thought he was cool, nice, pretty good looking and I was like “hmm alright I see you.” Then I found out he was engaged and I told myself “I’ll settle for being his friend then”

Jaime and Nancy make me feel like I’m at work with family members. Like my parents, they always make me feel safe and taken care of, but also like siblings, they are so full of fun and mischief! It’s so hard to think of a favorite memory because I have so many good ones with them, but let’s cannot forget the time Jaime took my bottle to grab me water, not knowing there’s already coffee in there and I ended up with very watered down coffee. With Nancy, that day when it was just us two at work, kinda working but also deep talking, was really freaking nice. I find joy, comfort, and so much love from both of you, and it makes me feel so lucky to be part of your lives and journey!

I honestly can't even remember how I first met Nancy & Jaime. We met at UC Merced and lived on the same floor, but that first meeting is a complete blur. We had our fun times at Merced, but my favorite memory is actually when they stayed with me at my apartment here in San Jose. I was thrilled to find out that my college bestie was moving to my hometown! Needless to say that when these two needed some help with a housing problem, my door was wide open. For you two, and your fur babies, it always is--but you know that. Watching movies, getting In-N-Out, coming back and talking about our days, seeing first-hand how passionate you both are about teaching, even when it was remote...that was my favorite time with you. Together, you can get through anything. Always remember that. I love you both so much, and I will always be here for you!
