How We Met

The Right Swipe

We met, like countless millennials our age, on a dating app (shoutout to Hinge!). We actually matched for the first time in May 2018, but due to busy schedules and work obligations, we weren't able to meet up and eventually our conversation fizzled out. Little did we know that 3 months later, in August, we would come across each other again, swipe right again, and the rest would be history. After two failed attempts to set up a first date, we finally met up for a drink at M-Brew in Ferndale on August 18th where we bonded over our love of craft beer and arcade games. After that first date we both knew that this was going to be something special. The moment we realized we were in love was during a trip to the Bean's Saugatuck cottage (or the Saugatarium, as we call it) in January 2019. We took a hike through the Dunes State Park which ends at Lake Michigan. Ethan was walking around, exploring what he thought was just frozen beach, when he suddenly realized that he was balls deep in the lake. Luckily he managed to get out of the water. Jaime gave him a pair of leggings and socks (thank goodness for layers), and we hiked back to the parking lot, carrying Ethan's jeans, which quickly turned into jean-cicles. It was during the hike out that we realized just how much we meant to one another. It was only a few days later that we finally said "I Love You" for the first time. Fast forward - we moved in together in July 2020 after deciding that we were sick of driving the 2.5 miles to each other's houses since we were spending every day together, trying to get through the pandemic. We adopted our fur baby, Zif (rhymes with beef), in November, and on May 12, 2021, at the top of the overlook hike at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, Ethan got down on one knee and proposed. We can't wait to celebrate our love with all of you and to finally get hitched!

For all the days along the way
