The Poe Museum

The Poe Museum began over a century ago when an Edgar Allan Poe collector and researcher named James Howard Whitty and a group of literary enthusiasts met in Poe’s hometown of Richmond, Virginia to create the state’s first monument to a writer. Wander through the museum to learn more about Poe's life and while you are there check out the garden in the back.

The VMFA has a fantastic permanent collection and a revolving door of great exhibits, not to mention the sculpture garden. There is also a tea room and a couple of nice restaurants on the grounds.

Hotel Greene is a 13 hole indoor mini-golf course with a hotel concept. They have drinks and snacks available for you while you golf. Heads up after 5 pm it is adults only.

Hollywood Cemetery is a beautiful 135 acre cemetery, garden and outdoor museum. You can tour on foot or by car. If you do visit make sure to check out Rest in Pieces, a curiosity shop, which is a couple of blocks away.

Carytown is an area in the city filled with locally owned shops and eateries. Be sure to check out World of Mirth, or Mongrel. If you like vintage, Bygones is a great vintage store.
