Before western culture placed its grip on the neck of melanated children of the diaspora, many centuries ago it was the standard in the culture to include the entire family in the courtship and process of marriage. Marriage has always been intended to be a joining of two families, of two houses. It would be unimaginable for this decision to be left to one person, so as a result, the entire family would be involved in this African ritual. We are reclaiming much of that lost energy in the marriage and ceremony between Saikou and Jameelah. We invite you to be a part of this family affair.
