Travel
Whidbey Island is a beautiful, rural destination, and accommodations can fill up quickly, so we encourage guests to book early. Most lodging options are small, family-run inns or vacation rentals scattered throughout the island. We strongly advise against booking accommodations on the mainland, as ferry travel, especially on weekends, can be unpredictable and may lead to significant delays. Staying on the island will make for a smoother, more relaxed experience on the big day.
Guests coming from the mainland have several ways to reach the island. You can drive onto the island via State Route 20 through Deception Pass (from the Burlington/North Cascades Highway area), or take one of two ferry routes. The Port Townsend–Coupeville ferry is a longer but more scenic and typically less crowded route. Reservations are required for this sailing. The Mukilteo–Clinton ferry is shorter and runs frequently, with no reservations needed.
