We wanted to make sure all our friends could celebrate but that the wedding day remained small and intimate. Our bonus reception will be a larger gathering held at Xcape Dance Academy in Eugene the Saturday after the wedding. The bonus reception will have fusion partner dancing, which is a style that combines multiple dance styles and music genres together. No dance experience or partner is required. The first half hour of the event will include a lesson. For those not interested in dance, there will also be a space for board games and conversation.
Fusion partner dancing rooted in connection and creativity. Unlike many other dance styles, it does not have a base footwork or set moves but is more a blend of styles, cultures, and techniques. Each dance shaped by you, your partner, and the music. This is a social dance, meaning you will switch partners between songs. All skill levels are welcome, including people that have never danced before. A short lesson will be held at the beginning of the event.
Fusion music offers a variety of genres and artists. Common genres include: Afro-beats, blues, Latin, alt-electronic, remixes, covers, mashups Common artists include: Artists may include Marian Hill, Glass Animals, Burna Boy, Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, Massive Attack View an example playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3TOtReLEs6n33ZMdCNBwA4
We encourage you to give fusion a try (you might be surprised). But if you don't feel like dancing, you're still welcome. We will have a separate space for board games and conversation, along with light snacks and refreshments. You're also welcome to watch people dance and enjoy the music.
