Our First Date

As told by Jade...

Ricky & I originally met a few years ago while we were helping a mutual friend move. While we always had great conversations, nothing really came of it until we both discovered we were really big foodies. Ricky finally worked up the courage to ask me out, and I immediately requested we get tacos. We had our first date at Los Galanes in Southwest Detroit, and it was AMAZING! We sat at the restaurant for over 4 hours eating and drinking strawberry margaritas. After dinner we went for a walk on the Bagley Pedestrian Bridge in Mexicantown. My cheeks hurt from smiling all night, and it was clear that neither of us wanted the night to end!

The Proposal

As told by Ricky...

I knew for a very long time that Jade was the one. Even her family noticed how much I loved her very early on. When I was ready to take that big step, I asked both her father and mother for her hand in marriage. To celebrate our anniversary on February 9th, I convinced Jade that we should go to the DIA and have dinner at a surprise restaurant. I knew I was going to propose, so I wanted to make sure everything was extra special. I rented a horse & carriage and coordinated with our families so they could all be there when I popped the question. I also hired a photographer to capture the special moment. When I got confirmation that everyone was in place, I brought her out to the front steps and got down on one knee. As she saw our families heading towards us, she started crying and was clearly in disbelief. After she said YES, we rode the horse & carriage down Woodward for some photos around the D. We then headed over to Los Galanes, where we had our first date many moons ago, to meet up with our families. Many happy tears were shed, and we are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives!
