Our first date was at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I made the mistake of taking a NOT non-drowsy allergy pill before our date. Remember most museums have great mood lighting. Aha. So as we walk and talk through the museum, we are goofing around and getting to know each other. Phylex made sure to do his homework for our date as we went through the mummy exhibit, he continued to impress me with his profound knowledge of all things mummys. We ooed and awed at the beautiful gems and stones in their collection. We truly had a great time exploring natural science and each other. As soon as we left the museum, I dreadfully came forward to share that I believe I had accidentally taken a drowsy allergy pill. Snap. Not only did Phylex impress me with his knowledge base of the mummification process but he was also PUTTING ME TO SLEEP. Phylex was so sweet and understanding. We hit up a Starbucks and walked around a Barnes and Noble in close proximity. The conversation was fruitful and funny. I could not imagine a better first date with my best friend. Fast forward to several years later and we are going to the Natural Science Museum for our anniversary to relive our first date. I had my suspicions something was going to happen that morning. However, does that stop me from taking ANOTHER NOT non-drowsy allergy pill? Nope. We arrive at the museum and head into the gem exhibit. Phylex shares with me that this is exactly where he knew I was the one and gets down on one knee to propose. Only… the bag he stuffed the ring in won’t open. We giggle together and before setting my eyes on the ring he selected I, of course, say yes. He pulls out the ring and it's stunning! We walk and talk around the exhibit some more and head over to the cadaver exhibit. Nothing says romance like gems and dead bodies. While that day, I made the mistake of taking a not non-drowsy allergy pill— I wasn’t super sleepy— just excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
