Houston and Jade met in their First Year Experience (FYE) course at Trinity University in 2015. It was a course that took place first thing, every day, and the subject was Arts and Ideas. On the very first day of class, Houston noticed a pink haired girl come in late. As she sat at the table of 10 students, she realized there were ants on her and she decided to stand in the corner until she got them off. Houston says it was love at first sight. Jade fell in love when their class met to study for their midterm. Houston stayed late to talk with Jade, and he showed her a video of the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park wearing shoes. From then on they were best friends and spent all their time together. Thank Goodness for FYE!

Houston totally surprised Jade! On a trip to New York with Jade’s family, and with Jade’s father’s blessing, Houston arranged for his parents to bring him the ring he designed especially for Jade. He proposed to her at exactly noon at the North facing corner of One World Trade Center, to which she said, “Yes! Are you kidding?!”
