After nearly two years of studying law and taking classes in the same building, you would think that's where we met. But that's not quite how it happened. I suppose it makes almost equal sense that we would eventually meet at an Irish pub just a few blocks away. Jade, being the extroverted and over-the-top law student she was, had just returned from a school-sponsored event for incoming law students. Geoff, being the introverted and laid back law student he was, had been reluctantly dragged out by his buddies for a quick beer. It wasn't until we started bonding over our love for country music, with Garth Brooks playing in the background, that Geoff's friend turned to him and said, "you're not leaving any time soon, are you?" In the days and weeks that followed, Jade began to suspect that Geoff wasn't all that interested. Lo and behold, that suspicion quickly changed once Jade realized that Geoff was in fact interested - he was just a real gentleman (who knew those still existed?!) When she received a text message simultaneously suggesting they go line dancing and quoting an episode of Friends, she knew he was the one. When he cooked her dinner and she accepted his candle made exclusively from bacon grease, he knew she was the one. After six short years, four cities, two states, countless memories, a cat-like dog, a dog-like cat, a hamster (RIP Gizmo), and a fish (RIP Sushi), we've built a life together that neither of us could have imagined. Anybody who has met us knows we are the definition of the phrase "opposites attract" - both in personality and in height - and we wouldn't have it any other way. From Friday night puzzle parties to searching for the scariest movie on Netflix, every day is filled with more love and laughter than we ever thought possible. We absolutely cannot wait to celebrate with each and every one of you as we enter this exciting new chapter of our lives surrounded by our family and friends, and of course, lots and lots of trees.
