Our Love Story

It was a rainy Saturday in July of 2019. Aaron was asked by some U.S. Air Force friends to play some UK softball for a team called The Traveling Dodgers in Slough. Having only just moved to the UK Aaron figured it would be a great opportunity to meet new people. Little did he know that he was about to meet Jade. Jade felt a little nervous to say hello to Aaron immediately because she thought he was incredibly dishy. Aaron also kept from saying hello because, “He was the new guy and Jade just ignored him.” The games then got started and it turns out they were next to each other in both the batting lineup and in the outfield. They hit it off immediately, and it became a running joke that when one of them hit well the other did, too. Thus, the flirting had begun. After a full day of softball, Jade invited Aaron and his friend Jeff to come out for dinner and drinks with her and her friend Laura. They both accepted. Later that night, Jeff decided he was too tired to come for drinks with the girls. Aaron almost cancelled, but he put on his big boy pants and came alone. That night, the shots were flowing and the laughs kept on coming. It became more and more clear that Aaron and Jade had something special and fancied the pants off each other. That night they shared their first kiss. The Traveling Dodgers ended up winning the whole tournament and two people found each other. After that Jade and Aaron decided to date but lived three hours apart. They took turns driving to visit each other for the weekend, and Aaron even drove after a 12-hour night shift to see Jade. These weekends consisted of getting to know each other, nights out, softball, board games, drinks, meeting each other's friends, and falling in love. Not to mention adopting their crazy dog, Clyde. This continued for two years until Jade finally moved down south to be with Aaron. They lived with each other for 12 months, and it was amazing. The sad day came when Aaron separated from the U.S. Air Force and moved to Pensacola, Florida. The plan was always for Jade to join him, but it took a lot longer than anticipated. Of course, the rest is history and we all know how it ends.

The Engagement

In August of 2022, Aaron got down on one knee and asked Jade that all-important question. Aaron was set to play for Heath Men’s Softball Team and Jade was playing for Lady Heath on Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. Unfortunately, the girls got knocked out of the tournament by the end of that Saturday evening, but the men's team was still going strong. With the support of the ladies team, the men’s team was about to warm up to play in the semi-final on Sunday afternoon when Aaron asked Jade to warm up with him. Aaron then picked up Jade's glove and proceeded to walk onto the diamond shouting “I’ve got your glove!” Jade was talking to some of the girls and followed behind him. She then picked up her glove to throw with Aaron. To Jade's surprise she couldn’t put her hand inside her glove because there was a small black box in the way. She took it out and said “What’s this?” By the time Jade looked up, Aaron was walking towards her with a big smile on his face. Jade opened the box and saw the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. Aaron came over and kissed her and asked, “Do I have to get down on one knee?” to which Jade replied, “Of course!” Aaron got down on one knee and asked Jade to marry him, to which she immediately replied, "YES!!!!!" This was met by a large cheer by the crowd any many many kisses from Aaron. It seemed like EVERYONE knew about this surprise proposal apart from Jade. Needless to say, she was on cloud nine. To top it all off, since Aaron proposed in front of the entire tournament, random people kept congratulating us throughout the day. Jade had no idea how many people had witnessed the proposal until after!

For all the days along the way
