At Campbell University, during your campus tour, they tell you, "Most people here will meet the person they’re going to marry." At 18, most students don’t think much about it, but for Jade and Gabe, it turned out to be true. Some might say love at first sight isn’t real, but our story proves otherwise! Who would have guessed that a 19-year-old girl, just looking to enjoy her spring break, would meet the love of her life at a house party? And who would have thought that a 20-year-old guy, focused on a week off from wrestling and perfecting his beer pong skills, would find his perfect partner before he knew it? Jade and Gabe first met in February of 2022 at a party at Gabe’s house. For Jade, it was love at first sight… and for Gabe, it took a couple of months to catch up. From the moment they met, they couldn’t be apart, staying up until 3 a.m. talking, eating popcorn, and watching *Shrek* as the rest of the party drifted to sleep. That night marked the beginning of their inseparable bond. Jade knew she had found someone special and wasn’t going to take “no” for an answer. For months, they shared countless memories and adventures, along with their two sweet puppies, all while remaining just friends. But eventually, Gabe realized he couldn’t imagine life without Jade by his side. In July of 2022, Jade made her first trip to Alabama and boldly declared that she was meant to be a member of the Hixenbaugh family. It was during that trip that they officially became a couple, celebrating their new title with a date at Beef O’Brady’s in Old Town Helena. Afterward, they walked down to the waterfall, where Jade declared that this was where the proposal *must* happen. Two years later, Gabe got down on one knee at that very same waterfall, where their journey began, and asked Jade to be his forever. Here’s to the Hixenbaughs!
