In spring of 2011, Jacy registered for high school at Arlington Heights. She had not attended one of the feeder middle schools and knew no one there. A family friend, Christi Lea, offered to introduce the Leathermans to a family she had known for some time, who were connected at Arlington Heights, and who had a son who would be in Jacy’s class. So, in May of 2011, Jacy and Jessica attended a baseball game for the purpose of meeting the Henley family. Jacy and Bobby hit it off right away, sitting together, chatting and visiting the whole game.

In June of 2011, Jacy had a swimming party with her new Arlington Heights freshman cheer squad and asked Stacey if Bobby might want to come and invite some guys. Most of the girls on the squad had gone to private or other middle schools and all wanted to make new friends. Bobby came to the party and brought a few others.

When fall came around and school started, Jacy and Bobby had World Geography the same class period and were seated right next to each other. They spent that whole year as best friends and were together quite a bit!

Jacy (not so secretly) adored Bobby and waited their entire freshman year for him to come around. Finally, in June of 2012, Bobby told Jacy, “I love you the way my Dad loves my Mom.” On June 5, 2012, after attending Blair’s middle school graduation, they had their first kiss and were officially dating.
