Matron of Honor
Leslie and I initially connected through our mutual love of MTV's Laguna Beach. Sometimes I wonder why we liked that show (....Lauren Conrad is just amazing and Stephen Colletti was hella cute). We still love and connect through trash TV today but also we've become besties who talk about more than our love for the Circle and Selling Sunsets and I feel blessed to call her my best friend.
Best Man
I met Matchew a little over 10 years ago when he moved down to Apple Valley. He became part of the family very quickly and just fit in so well. We got to know each other very well that first year, with snowboarding trips, road trips, hiking adventures, and summer BBQs. He is one of those friends that would show up without the invite. Even though he has moved up north, we continue to talk/FaceTime 2-3 times a week.

Ashley and I met when we were both attending Sarang Community Church. I did not know many people at the church and Ashley and her twin sister Emily welcomed me with open arms. I'm so thankful for her friendship and she has taught that not every small thing you find or feel is some crazy disease that you found on WebMD.

Randy is the second born in our family. We grew up together having similar interests since we are close in age. We grew up doing some crazy stuff. It’s nice to have someone grow with you in and to help you grow. It wasn’t always fun and games with us. Occasional bickering, but we grew to recognize the love we have for each other. He has grown to be a great father and loves God.

Shinaei has been with us (Rain and Jacquie) since before we were together (Literally listening to me giggle when I was first talking to Rain in the office). She has been an older sister figure (언니; "unni") and mentor to me since I started at my first job where we met. It was when she offered me her McDonald's hashbrown when I knew she was a homie for life. I'm very thankful that I can call her a close friend and an 언니 / unni.

I had the opportunity to meet Calvin when he was in high school in Escondido. Our first interaction was nothing more than a “Hi, nice to meet you”. We didn’t get close until maybe 5 or so years later. I moved to Orange County and he was the only friend I had down here. He also took me in and gave me a place to stay, for which I will always be grateful for. I remember our first good night kiss when he tucked me into bed haha. He is a person who is focused and has worked very hard to be where he is at with his career. We’ve had some crazy adventures together and will continue to be there for each other even if we don’t get to hang out as much as we did before.

I will never forget the first day I met Emily because she also remembers this meeting vividly. She thought I was a super quiet and introverted person (LOL). But, I was pretty quiet when I first met her. I like to try to be introverted and quiet sometimes, but it doesn't last very long. Since then, we have grown to become close friends and have bonded through so much board game nights, hot pot, and the occasional rock climbing.

Elvin is the third born in the family. We didn’t grow up having the best relationship as children, but I would not change that. We learned how to love each other through trials and tribulations. I learned how to inspire and appreciate my siblings through learning to be a big brother to Elvin and not be bossy or take control of every situation. He works hard towards his goals is an amazing role model to our two nephews.

I don't think I would have found my Washington family if it were not for Lena. I moved to Washington not knowing anyone or having any family there. But she welcomed and introduced me to the ROOTS family and the rest is history. I will never forget all the experiences we have had so far like eating balut or making last minute plans to visit Vancouver and am excited to continue to make together.

Ahh, the fourth brother in the family. The youngest sibling that got away with everything. His only job was to eat and do homework and the older three brothers got in trouble for everything wrong he did lol. I would tell him that we were the mistakes in the family. Nobody plans for the first or last child haha. It took us a while to get where we are at with our relationship, but we have a strong sibling love for each other. He has grown to be a wonderful human being and now serves in the Air Force. Thank you for your service!

I met Christina through the ROOTS house and I eventually moved into the ROOTS house making us roomies! Have you ever met someone and felt "wow, this person is just amazing." That's Christina. I have always been in awe of her generosity, presence, confidence, and bravery. I'm so thankful to have her in my life as a friend and sister in Christ.

One of my cousins that is a brother to our family. I could not wait to hang out with him and his family when we would road trip to San Francisco or when he would travel down to Apple Valley. Even at our old age, we still continue to act like kids and enjoy life. He has the best stories of unpredictable accidents, just ask him and you won’t be disappointed lol. He is that person that I can talk to when I need to vent out. He has come a long way and has grown to be an amazing father. He is motivated and has become successful in his career.
