FAQs

The Wedding Website of Alex James and Jacqui Wilson
Question

Q: Do I need a visa or travel authorisation to visit the UK?

Answer

Yes. US citizens are required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before traveling. It costs £16 and takes approximately 3 business days to process. Apply at gov.uk/apply-for-an-eta well in advance of your trip.

Question

Q: What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is your best option — it's roughly 45–50 minutes from the venue. Edinburgh Airport (EDI) works as a secondary option if you're finding better flights, and is about 1.5–2 hours by car. Flying into London and taking the LNER train north (about 2h 50m to Newcastle) is also a scenic, perfectly viable route.

Question

Q: Is transportation information provided on how to get to the venue?

Answer

Please see the 'Travel' section on the wedding website!

Question

Q: Where will we be staying?

Answer

Most guests will stay on-site at Ellingham Hall, which sleeps 42. Accommodations are included as part of the wedding weekend. To reserve your room, contact Mary Wilson at 603-969-2608 or mwciaconsult@gmail.com. If the estate reaches capacity, there are nearby cottages, a local inn, and Airbnb options within walking distance.

Question

Q: What is the dress code?

Answer

Fall formal and be prepared for both indoor and outdoor depending on weather. The ceremony and reception are held indoors, but November in Northumberland means cold. We recommend bringing a warm layer for any outdoor moments.

Question

Q: Are children invited?

Answer

This is an adults only event for the wedding and ceremony

Question

Q: Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Your invitation will specify whether a guest is included. If you have questions, reach out to us directly at jacquelynenwilson@gmail.com (603)-969-1973 or akjames47@gmail.com (603)-531-9658

Question

Q: What's the ceremony timeline on Saturday?

Answer

We will be jovially getting ready and enjoying the grounds all morning for a noon ceremony. Please be seated by 11:45am. The ceremony begins promptly at noon. A full timeline will be available closer to the date.

Question

Q: Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, Ellingham Hall has on-site parking if you're renting a car. We can provide more information upon request.

Question

Q: What should I know about the weekend format?

Answer

This is a full buyout — you'll be staying, eating, and celebrating exclusively with our wedding party and guests across three days. Friday evening is a relaxed welcome dinner. Saturday is the wedding and reception (and celebration!). Sunday is a farewell brunch before checkout at 11am. Think of it less as attending a wedding and more as a weekend away together.

Question

Q: Will there be dietary accommodations?

Answer

Yes — please note any dietary needs or allergies in your RSVP and we'll make sure the catering team is informed.

Question

Q: I have more questions. Who should I contact?

Answer

Reach out to us and we'll get back to you quickly.
