Have you ever heard of the invisible string theory? Simply put, the invisible string theory suggests that everyone has someone in their lives who is attached to them by an unbreakable string that transcends time, distance, and geography. Jacques was born in France and later moved to Prescott, Arizona after traveling the world on a sailboat. Sierra was born and raised in Prescott. Everyone always asks why he would move from France and the Caribbean to Prescott; Jacques and Sierra think that God always has a plan, even if it’s as boring as Prescott. They met when they were around 13 years old from having friends in common, but never got the opportunity to really spend time together. As the years of high school went on, they saw each other from time to time again, would share a moment of flirting, and then move on with their friend groups. After high school they both went different routes, Jacques to Phoenix and Sierra to Flagstaff. It wasn’t until Summer of 2019 when Jacques was working in Los Angeles they finally reconnected. Sierra was visiting LA with her sorority sisters & posted that on Snapchat, and of course Jacques made the bold move to ask her to “hangout.” Later all of their friends met up and they stayed up all night JUST talking and sharing stories. They lost contact again after that weekend as Sierra went back to Flagstaff. Around November of 2019 Jacques asked Sierra to go on the free company cruise with him in January. He was not 21, Sierra was, Sierra could buy the drinking pass (how romantic). Sierra easily said yes to the trip. The two figured that it was probably a good idea to hangout at least one time before the cruise. So on New Year’s Eve they did just that. Sierra spent time with Jacques, then being newly 21, went to the bars while promising to make it back to him by 12:00. Have you ever tried to get a Uber from Mill Ave in Tempe on New Years? Don’t! She was lost, overwhelmed, and in fact did not make it back by 12:00. *Hence why they never kiss right on 12:00 at New Years, it’s their tradition now.* After a bit of frustration from Jacques trying to explain cross streets to Sierra…. They enjoyed a fun weekend together and were ready for the cruise. Fast forward to the cruise & the first day, Jacques boss told Jacques “You are going to marry that girl one day”. At the time they both laughed but I guess their connection was undeniable & he in fact, was right. They shared the most fun and incredible few days together on the cruise, best first date ever. After the cruise Sierra went back to Flagstaff, as soon as she made it up the hill, Jacques asked her to come back. So with butterflies filling her belly, she did. That night he asked her to be his girlfriend on 01/11/2020.
The couple did long distance until April 2020 when Covid hit, Jacques moved in for “a week” as his job was on hold (Covid was supposed to last a week ok)… Covid DID NOT last a week. Jacques lived in Flagstaff for a few months with Sierra and instantly became a dog dad to Maxx. Then Sierra’s job went virtual & Jacques job went to Oklahoma. Jacques asked Sierra and Maxx to move to Oklahoma with him, so they did. Sierra and Jacques then lived in Oklahoma for a month then Florida for three, then landed back in Tempe where they had their first official place together. Sierra and Jacques spent wonderful first memories in their Tempe home and continued to travel the world together. In 2022, Jacques and Sierra decided to buy a home together where they continued to build their life. In 2023 their family grew a little bigger as Maxx got a brother, Monte. April 20th, 2024 on a trip to visit Sierra’s nephew Adam in Japan, Jacques proposed on the 48th floor of a skyscraper in Tokyo. April 21st, 2024 Sierra began wedding planning (let’s pretend she waited 1 days until she started shopping). Which then brings us here, to get to celebrate their love with their incredible friends and family who have supported them every single step of the way.
