Justin and I met in August of 2022 in Rosemary Beach, Florida, while I was there for my best friend’s bachelorette weekend. Being an early riser, I went out for a solo run around 6:00 AM while the town was still quiet. Not long after I started, it began to pour, and I took cover under the awning at Gallion’s, a local restaurant right in the heart of Rosemary. A few minutes later, I saw Justin running across the street, also caught in the rain, and he ducked in for shelter too. He struck up a conversation, and we ended up sitting on one of their patio tables talking, while the rain came down around us. When the nearby coffee shop, Amavida, finally opened, he offered to buy me a coffee, and we continued our conversation inside. We talked for hours about everything—where we grew up, our friends and family, our careers, college memories, and a dozen other things that just came naturally. After the girls at the bachelorette party started texting, asking if I was okay, Justin drove me back to the Airbnb, not before asking for my phone number. It was one of those rare mornings where something unexpected turned into something unforgettable. Neither of us planned for that moment, but it quickly became the beginning of forever—starting with a year of long distance between Nashville and Houston, until Justin moved to Houston in the fall of 2023, finally bringing our story together in the same city.
