Isaac moved from Chico, California, and Jacquelyn moved from Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Boise in 2021. Jacquelyn made the leap to jumpstart her career pivot into software development and Isaac moved in with his cousins after a COVID graduation looking for new opportunities. While hunting down a data engineering job, Isaac picked up work as a lift operator for Bogus Basin before joining Jacquelyn at Allata in December of 2021 (Thanks, Isaac Gonzalez, for the work referral). Over the next year, the two picked up a group of work friends that would get Friday beers and hang out on the weekends willingly after 40 hours a week in the office together. One fateful evening, when other coworkers decided not to join, Isaac and Jacq decided to go watch the Perseid meteor shower up at Bogus Basin. The rest is history. Isaac has since introduced Jacquelyn to her love of the great outdoors, and Isaac continues to be Jacquelyn's biggest fan at her band's gigs. Their favorite time spent together is finding beautiful remote camping spots throughout Idaho and beyond. They were joined in early 2022 by their two lovely feline menaces, Socks and Goose.

While Jacquelyn was up in McCall for a girl's fall trip with her pals Maria and Kallie, Isaac and Maria had schemed up a surprise engagement that caught Jacquelyn totally off guard. After a weekend of crafting, reading, and relaxing, the girls decided to go to a public garden in the area before heading home. Meanwhile, Isaac was dodging deer and making the drive up to McCall in his sister's car to not raise suspicion. Unbeknownst to Jacquelyn, Isaac was waiting behind a tree in a light drizzle with the ring he painstakingly designed. Jacquelyn's first words seeing him were "What are you doing here?!" and the rest is history. Isaac nailed the backwards lunge to kneel and Jacquelyn said yes. After making the drive back home, the surprises continued with an engagement party at the Newsum Airbnb with many of Isaac and Jacq's friends and family, and a surprise appearance from Jacquelyn's sister, Paige, who drove in from Eugene.
