If you know us, you probably know that we met in 2014 at UCLA, the summer that Jacqueline lived in Omar's frat house with some friends. We actually met the very last night before Jacqueline moved out of the house - it must have been fate! We were friends at first sight, until Omar made a move a few weeks later. Omar being willing to dress up as Tarzan for Jacqueline's "famous couples" themed date party sealed the deal. When Jacqueline graduated from UCLA and moved to Austin, we did long distance while Omar got his Masters in Counseling at SDSU in San Diego. After two years of flying back-and-forth monthly, Jacqueline convinced Omar to move to Austin in 2018. Flash forward to 2022 and we bought a house and are planning a wedding in Austin.
For years, Omar knew that the proposal had to not only be the best surprise ever, but also the best party ever (at least until the wedding!). After brainstorming with Jacqueline’s mother Corinne, her sister Carissa, and close friends from college (shout out to Kaitlyn and Caitlin!), Omar came up with four tiers of surprises for our special day: Surprise 1: Under the guise of a Mother’s Day wine tour, Omar and Jacqueline went to Fall Creek Winery for some tastings with her family. Omar decided to kick things off with a bang and start with the proposal first! A peaceful walk to a shady tree offered the perfect set up for Omar to get down on one knee. The handyman working on the fence nearby turned out to be a surprise photographer and captured the entire engagement. Surprise 2: After the photo shoot, the newly engaged couple walked into the winery to meet up with Jacqueline’s family when, SURPRISE!, Omar’s parents arrived. Some celebratory champagne and additional photos set the team up for the next surprise… Surprise 3: The engagement party set out to Treaty Oak Distillery where Jacqueline’s best friends from CA were waiting to surprise her with cocktails and gifts! Jacqueline’s jaw dropped when she saw her closest friends had made the journey out to Texas hill country. Surprise 4: And now for the headliner. When Omar created his original vision, he decided that everything should build up to a surprise party at our favorite brewery, Jester King, where Jacqueline and Omar visited on one of their first trips to Austin. Jacqueline walked in prepared for some casual brews and pizza when she was surprised by just about every single person she knows in Austin. From band mates, to coworkers, to best friends, we were honored to be joined and celebrated by so many wonderful people. We are beyond excited to welcome everyone to our wedding in the Texas hill country where we decided to spend the rest of our lives together.
