As told by Jacqueline: We met back in 2011 during our freshman year of college. We both lived in Tenochca Hall (also known as T-Nasty due to its poor living conditions). One night in the study hall, Josh successfully convinced me that he was a member of a semi-famous band. Right before I was about to purchase his alleged song on iTunes, he came clean. Since then, we became instant friends. A few months later, he mustered up the courage to ask me out on a date after some encouraging from our friend and bridesmaid, Kelly. The first date was perfect- a picnic on the beach with sandwiches, chocolate, wine (from a box), and frozen yogurt. And the rest is history.
As told by Josh: I always knew that I wanted to make our proposal a day to remember- including a big surprise and raging party with friends and family. One thing about Jacqueline is that she is quite the stalker. She follows all her friend’s phone locations and checks in on where and what they are doing daily. Starting Jan 1, 2020, all her friends turned off their locations so we wouldn’t blow the surprise. I recruited Brooke and Kendall (Maids of Honors) to be my partners in crime. The 3 of us decided to rent AIRBNB in Hermosa Beach. The girls would decorate and prep the house while I distracted Jacqueline. I made plans for our LA friends, Ryan and Sophie, to invite us to brunch by the beach. Hopefully at this point, Jacqueline was thinking this is just your average Saturday. Jacqueline was expecting to me to propose soon so I needed to make sure she didn’t see it coming. After brunch I decided that Jac and I should “go for a walk on the beach”. There was a slight hole in my plan because Jacqueline had just run 9 miles that morning and did NOT feel like walking. But I persisted and convinced her to go for a walk along the beach. Once we got to the beach, all my plans went haywire- she wanted to walk the opposite way, she wanted to stop and put her feet in the water, and she kept asking me why I wanted to walk on the sand when she knows I hate it. At this point, I am thinking that Jacqueline must be on to me because my stories are falling apart. Finally, after what seems like the longest walk of my life we got to the spot where I was going to ask Jacqueline to be my wife. I got down on one knee and asked Jacqueline to marry me. As soon as she said yes, we heard a roar of cheering from the roof of the AIRBNB. We walked over and were greeted with hugs, tears, friends, and family. I’d say it was definitely a day to remember and it was one hell of a party (the cops showed up and everything). Thank you to everyone came and made this day possible. It takes a village.
