How We Met

First comes dating apps, then comes...

After many swipes left on Chispa (we ended up naming our pup like that haha), there finally came a right! Many text messages later, and a 3 hour long phone call, led us to our first date. Call it nerves or Jackie being silly but... I walked into the place next door. After Irving looking at his watch for what seemed like the 100th time, I thought he was done with me. Turns out he was just starting to show me how considerate he was being (I worked the next day). After an amazing conversation face to face, we both knew this was the first date of many to come. You would think the craziness of 2020 would've been a challenge to any new relationship, but it brought us closer than we ever thought.

The Proposal

10/23/20

Jackie: Irving and I had always talked about Mexico, and the special place it holds in our heart. We decided to take our first trip to Puerto Vallarta, MX. It was a place we had both been to before and really enjoyed. Leading up to the trip, I talked to my work friends about how much I hoped he would propose. Fast forward to a few days into the trip, I started losing hope. While hanging out by the pool Irving said to me "I booked a photo session for us but didn't tell you sooner because I didn't want you thinking something was gonna happen that isn't." My heart was shattered. As we were getting ready, I shook that feeling off and decided to enjoy another moment beside my favorite person. I came to find out we were taking our pictures at a private residential beach, Conchas Chinas. We met with our photographer, Evgenia. She quickly made us feel comfortable and off we went posing. Many laughs later (nearby some kids kept screaming "beso! beso!" "kiss! kiss!) Evgenia asked us to start walking to the other end of the beach while she caught some more snaps. We had to climb through some rocks to get to the other side. As soon we hit sand again, Irving said to me "You know how much you mean to me. I couldn't bring you on this trip, and not make you my fiancé. Look up!" I looked up to see the most beautiful picnic set up I've ever seen. Once we made it to the set up, he reached for the box (HOW DID HE GET IT HERE?!) and got down on one knee. The rest is history! Irving: You always hear that you'll know when you meet "the one" but you don't know until you know. I knew Jackie was my person. After many meaningful conversations with friends and family, I knew Puerto Vallarta was going to be the place. I planned for a special photoshoot with a picnic but sometimes things don't always go as planned. The picnic company did not confirm until the night before! Despite a little moment of panic, it all worked out perfectly and her smile lit up the night. She said yes!
