We recommend using google flights. As frequent travelers we use this to best find successful rates when pricing is low. It's a gambling game so use your best judgement - often times we wait about 4 months prior to international, but as of late we've seen one way travel for as low as $350 (incase you plan on going to another country after). If you are from Texas your departing airport will be DFW. More than likely you will be using either Korean Airlines or EVA. Your layover will either be in Taipei or Korea, ranging between 1-2 hrs. If you are from LA, you're departing airport will be LAX. There are plenty of flexible flights offered here. So up to you where you want your layover. If you are using credit card points, assuming you are Chase or AMEX. More than likely we will see point transfer bonus with Japan Airlines and you can purchase your continuation trip from Japan if you choose to do so.
Although Thailand is advanced in technology, we do recommend keeping cash at all times, this allows for negotiating prices with street vendors and just smaller purchases in general. Bring Crisp, New Banknotes: Exchange $100 or $50 USD bills for the best rates. Smaller or worn notes may receive a lower rate. Use ATMs Wisely: Use bank ATMs to withdraw THB. Note that most non-Thai cards incur a 220–250 THB ($6–7 USD) fee per transaction. Avoid Airport/Hotel Exchanges: Exchange only a small amount at the airport to get into town, then use city exchangers. Bring Your Passport: It is required for all legal currency exchanges in Thailand.
Using Apple Maps internationally will yield in poor and outdated results. Please download Google Maps for the most accurate itinerary.
There are plenty modes of transportation in Thailand! Personally we recommend using the train system which are gonna be MRT (Subway) and BTS (Sky Train). Adjacent to the recommended Hotel, will be the MRT which can get you almost anywhere to major hotspots in Bangkok with connections to BTS. Other ways to travel would be Taxi (you may get ripped off) GRAB (Thailand version of Uber) TUKTUK! (dangerous, but fun for quick rides)
