Grant and I plan to get married in an intimate ceremony with family and close friends in Big Sur, CA and celebrating with a reception back in Texas. Due to COVID-19 Grant and I have come to the difficult decision to cancel our Big Sur, CA wedding and our spring wedding reception. Grant and I will be getting married on October 4th in a small ceremony in TX and we will host a one-year anniversary party in October 2021 so we are able to celebrate with all of you! We'll keep you posted about our new plans and we can't wait to celebrate with all of you!
Grant and I met while working for the Christian summer camp, Pine Cove. I (Jacque) hadn't ever worked for Pine Cove before and was a little anxious about going to orientation by myself; so I posted on our team's facebook page hoping to find a group to carpool with. I was lucky to find that Grant was picking up another teammate from the airport near my house and so we made plans for him to pick me up. Instantly we hit it off and had a lot in common, but, of course, at the time we both weren't interested in relationships. We enjoyed getting to know each other as friends and teammates at camp and it wasn't until we returned to school that we started to realize it could be something more.
The proposal weekend was the first free weekend Grant and I had in quite some time, so not know I was getting engaged, I decided that I was not going to do anything all weekend. Grant had agreed to this early on in the week, but he did say he wanted to go to lunch on Saturday, which I thought was odd, but I didn't think much of it! Saturday rolls around and I slept in until 12:30... like I said, I wasn't planning to do anything! I woke up and grant immediately came over to my apartment, pleading that I get ready and we go to lunch. Naturally, I was stubborn and coffee deprived, so I was laying on my living room floor still in PJs refusing to get up. Finally, I move towards getting ready, and grant is making every bribe to get me to go faster (we can go to Anthro after we get done, etc.). Grant mentioned we should take Doc, my pupper, to my parent's house since we would be out of the house for a while, which is not out of the norm at all. This made me think that he might be proposing but I thought it would happen that night since we'd be gone for a while. We get to my parents house, after getting inside I start heading to our kitchen but Grant grabs my hand and takes me to the back patio. Where Grant got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Once back inside I realized that some of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us, naturally we had Canes catered.
